International Ceilidh

Cranhill Community Project held a highly successful and well-attended International Ceilidh on Friday 22 January 2011. The dancing was led by the superb ‘Craigenroan’.

Teaching the company the steps before striking up each dance, the band soon had the floor filled to set dances, especially the Dashing White Sergeant. There was a good blend too of ‘couple’ dances such as the Canadian Barn Dance, the Gay Gordons and the St Bernard’s Waltz. For many the ‘Flying Scotsman’ was something new. The Grand Old Duke of York was a hit with the children.

Plates of haggis, neeps and tatties were well-received - as were the generous portions of pakora.

It was a night of fun and fellowship - and one to be remembered!
