‘Out-of-the Box’ Community Art Project Exhibition
From 23 July until 30 July the work of members of Cranhill's 'Out-of-the Box' Community Art Project will be on display in The Bridge, Easterhouse
Cranhill was the first of the City's post-war east end housing schemes to be completed. Sadly, old Cranhilll of the 50s and 60s is no more. The exhibition represents a collective walk down memory lane by group participants. The archetypal 4-storey tenements are represented in drawings, paintings, clay models and a large wall frieze. Clay wall plaques provide a vehicle for sharing experiences and stories.
The Out of the Box Community Art Project grew out of experiments by Cranhill Parish Church using art in worship. The 'Auld Cranhill' project used visual art to encourage self-expression and enhance personal confidence.
The project was led by community artist, Allan Greenhill.
